Mold

Inspection

Determining the source of a problem can be a real challenge. Our inspectors are equipped with the tools they need to find sources of moisture, water intrusion or just high humidity in your home that cause mold to grow and flourish. Finding mold requires the use of all an inspector’s senses as well as the knowledge to understand what should be and what shouldn’t. Using the right tools to confirm and verify is a necessary step in finding and then getting rid of mold in your home.

Remediation

Every successful remediation project hinges on understanding the cause and/or source of the moisture that enabled the mold to grow. When the source is identified and plans have been made to prevent any future water intrusion, it’s time to stop the spread and kill it dead. Removal of affected materials can go a long way, is the simplest and is usually the most cost-effective way to be rid of mold. A thorough remediation might also include a treatment with a product that penetrates deep into wood (and other materials) to prevent mold growth which provides protection for years to come. Our team of professionals will ensure that all affected surfaces get the attention they need.

Testing

A targeted approach to mold testing is recommended in all circumstances. Testing comes in many forms and finding the right one for your situation can save a lot of time, money and frustration overall!

Air samples

Air samples can be helpful in finding the source of a problem and it can give us a general idea of what molds are in the home or room in question. Not all mold is bad, and molds are everywhere, so it’s important to sort them out and know what we’re dealing with, exactly.

Air samples can be taken in a room, from ducts and/or from inside wall voids and will be compared to a “control” sample collected from outside the structure to determine what molds occur naturally in or near the structure.

Swab Samples

Swab Samples are exactly what the name implies. The inspector will sample a suspect area, or substance suspected of being apparent visible mold using a swab with tape, or some other medium for collection.

Carpet Samples

Carpet Samples consist of an air or swab test performed on an area of carpet suspected of harboring mold growth.

*All mold samples are submitted to the lab for analysis and we rely upon their findings to verify the existence of dangerous mold(s) and recommends treatment plans and/or courses of remediation accordingly.

Access Ohio Wildlife Services, LLC will NOT install draped insulation on exterior crawl space walls as it creates conducive conditions for mold and/or wood destroying organisms. We recommend rigid foam board insulation in these circumstances or changing the heat envelop through Encapsulation.
